Transponder FAQ

1)      Why did the VMA go to transponders?

a)      Transponders will allow more accurate, more immediate scoring, (great for the mud races).

b)      Results can be posted right after a moto.

c)      Lap times are available online for all classes, (great for measuring your progress).

2)      Can I race without a transponder?

a)      No, not if you want to get scored.

3)      What if I forget it?

a)      You will have to rent one for the day

4)      How won’t I forget it?

a)      Leave it on your boot at all times, it will stay.  Check the strap for wear, we will replace it no problem, (the strap that is!)

5)      Do I need it on for practice?

a)      Yes, we need to make sure you are sensed in practice.

6)      How do I know when it needs to be replaced?

a)      The software will detect a weak signal, and we will tell you.

7)      Where does it mount?

a)      The racer wears the transponder around the left ankle on the outside of the boot, LOW as possible..

8)      What if I race without one?

a)      You will be scored last.

9)      What comes in the package?

a)      2 straps

b)      Instructions

c)      1 Transponder

d)      Carrying case.

10)  Can I join without buying a transponder?

a)      No.  You cannot race without a transponder, and you cannot join without it.

b)      All membership forms are entered manually into the database, it becomes twice as much work to enter the data once with no transponder, and then get the form up and the database up again with the transponder data.

c)      We cannot take the risk of starting a race without having the transponder information entered, it defeats the whole purpose.

11)  Where do I purchase a transponder?

a)      From us at the track, or from www.mxtrandsponders.com

12)  How long will it last?

a)      It is guaranteed to last 2 years, and the manufacturer is estimating 3-5 years.

13)  Can I use it at other tracks?

a)      Yes, it is the same one used at all tracks that have electronic scoring.

14)  How accurate is it?

a)      Accurate to .001 seconds, close enough for motocross.

15)  Can I rent one?

a)      For day members we will rent one for $20 per day.

16)  Can I share one?

a)      No, This would make it impossible to keep the day running smooth with the possibility of back to back motos with a rider you are trying to share one with.

b)      This becomes a serious safety issue with riders trying to quickly get a transponder from one rider to another either by using the track or the pits for travel.

Important Announcement for AMB Customers

Dear Valued AMB Customer:

It has come to our attention that some customers are using abrasive detergents, high-pressure hoses, or even submersion in an effort to clean their transponders after use. Doing so can result in degradation of the transponder's circuitry and overall performance, and damage resulting from these practices will not be covered under warranty.

AMB transponders are designed to perform at an extremely high level in typical motor sports environments. However, they are still susceptible to damage when handled improperly. AMB recommends gently washing your transponders with clean tap water.

If you have any questions or would like further clarification on the proper cleaning and treatment of your AMB transponders, please feel free to contact us by phone or via email, or visit AMB's support site for more information.
